Canoe Guide - Nätraån
                                     Canoe Tours in Ångermanland: Nätraån

The Nätraån is a narrow, relatively shallow river which flows gently and twists and turns with a few easy
rapids. The river flows into the Baltic Sea at Bjästa but I am describing the section from Skorped to Sidensjö
which is the most easily navigable section of the river. There are rest places with shelters along the river.

Start: Skorped: Skorped is on a minor road about 40 km west of Ornskodsvik.

Finish: Sidensjö

Transport: There is a bus service joining Skorped and Sidensjö.

 Portages: 1 portage, 200m

  Difficulty: Easy.

Distance: 55 km

Maps: There are canoe maps and route descriptions available for this route.

Route extension: You could continue 23 km to the sea, but this involves 4 portages up to 2.5 km and some
strong currents.

The route:
You should check that there is enough water in the river for the top section which is shallow. Launch at the
bridge over the Nätraån at Nilstorp just south of Skorped. Follow the Nätraån as it twists and turns. There is one
shallow rapid which must be portagd about 200m. Just before you reach Sidensjö you reach the small lake Bysjön
which has a bathing area west shore. The official end of the tour is the rest-place at the southern end of the lake.
