Canoe Tours in Östergötland: Stångån
The Stångån is a small stream which flows from Ydrefors into lake Åsunden. The Stångån then becomes
the Kinda Kanal as it heads for lake Roxen at Linköping.
Start: Ydrefors: Ydrefors is on a minor road NW of Vimmerby.
Alternative start: I started at the rest place at Ösjöfors about 5 km along the route.
Finish: Horn at the south end of lake Åsunden
Portages: 6 portages, 0.1 - 0.4 km
Distance: 96 km
Difficulty: Medium

Route extension: This tour is part of the Östergötland Round Tour.
Route extension: You could continue down the Kinda Kanal to Linköping.
The route:
From Ydrefors paddle down the small stream. The first section of the river could be too shallow to
navigate if the water level is low. You will find about 4 short portages before you reach Storebro. Continue to
Vimmerby where you enter lake Krön. Continue north through lakes and along the Stångån until you reach
Horn. There 2 short portages at dams as you approach Horn. End your tour at the campsite, beside the river,
at Horn.
