Canoe Guide - Åby-Örken round tour
Canoe Tours in Småland: Åby - Örken round tour

I have not canoed this route.
This circular tour tours seven lakes and a number of small streams.

Start and Finish: Åby. At the canoe centre at Åby at the northern tip of lake Helgasjön 25 km north of
Växjö.

Portages: 5 portages 0.2-7.0 km. A canoe trolley is essential for this route.

Distance: 100 km

Difficulty: medium

The route:
Head north up lakes Tolgasjön and Asasjön from Åby to Asa. From Asa you need to find a way to reach
Ramskilla. It is probably best to do a long portage east to Asaryd and then north and east again to reach lake
Teresjön and paddle to the eastern end of the lake. A short portage follows into Klockersjön and then you
paddle east tp Ramskilla.
From Ramskilla head down lake Örken to Böksholm. You might like to visit Braås at the south end of the
lake before heading down the Mörrumsån to lake Drevsjön and then back into the Mörrumsån before reaching
the larger Övrasjön. You exit this lake at the Sw side and quickly enter Sörabysjön. This lake is left at its NE
corner to paddle down the Mörrumsån and into Öjaren, which is left on its SW corner. The Mörrumsån takes
you back down into Tolgasjön which you paddle down to Åby.
