Canoe Tours in Sörmland :Dunker - Flen
I have not canoed this route.
This route joins a many small lakes and short sections of small streams.
Start: Dunker is just east of the highway 55, 7 km ENE of Malmköping and about 50 km ENE of
Katrineholm.
Finish: Flen is about 25 km east of Kristineholm on the highway 55.
Portages: There are several portages, the longest being 700m
Distance: about 60 km
Difficulty: Easy
Connections: This route connects with the Skebokvarn round tour and the Nykopingsån tour.
The route:
Launch into lake Dunkern at Dunker and paddle to its SE end where a small stream leads into lake
Misteln and from this lake another small passage leads into Kyrksjön. At the end of this lake another small
stream leads to Stjärnhov. The dam here must be portaged to enter lake Naten. A small stram flows out of
the south end of this lake into Hornafjöden which is part of lake Båven. Paddle down Båven to its southern
tip at Sibrokvarn. Portage 700m here into Lidsjön. About halfway down the west shore you enter the
Husbyån. Paddle up this small stream to a dam which must be portaged on the left into Torpfjärden and then
into Långhalsen. Paddle west along this lake. At the end of this lake paddle up a small stream. A short
portage is needed at Ekenäs before entering lake Vadsbrosjön. Exit this lake up the Hedenlundaån at its NW
end and enter lake Hedenlundasjön and then into lake Veckeln. At the western tip take the stream into
Älvestasjönan and immediately leave to the north into Lillsjön. A portage is needed at Varbro before an
unnamed lake is crossed and Norrviken is entered. Another small stream leads to Gårdsjön and Flen.
