Canoe Tours in Sörmland: Nyköpingsån
This tour follows the river Nyköpingsån and other small rivers from Ändebol to Nyköping paddling down a
combination of lakes and small rivers.
Start: Andebol: Andepol is on the Highway 55 about 15 km south of Katrineholm.
Finish: Nyköping: Nyköping is on the Baltic Sea SW of Stockholm.
Transport: Andebol and Nyköping are linked by bus services.
Portages: 11 portages 0.1 - 1.8 km

Route extension: You could explore lake Tisnaren and lake Yngaren.
Alternative finish: Instead of heading down to Nyköping from Vrena, you could extend the tour by heading up
part of the Dunker - Flen tour or Skebokvarn round tour to finish at Flen, Skebokvarn, Sparreholm or Dunker.
The route:
0 Andebol: You can launch your canoe where the railway crosses lake Fjälaren and paddle through Fjälaren
and Starrsjön.
4 Enter the Tisnare Kanal which leads into lake Visken and Brosjön.
11 Enter the large lake Tisnaren and follow its northern shore until you come to a small channel under the
road on the peninsular separating the main part of Tisnaren from the northern part or head round the end of the
peninsular. Head NE until you reach highway 551.
22 There are now 3 portages in short succession before you enter lake Bjälken. You leave this lake at the
highway 556 bridge where there is a short portage.
27 Continue NW into lake Viren and turn east to the dam at the lake’s eastern end.
34 Portage the dam and paddle along the southern edge of Katrineholm. There is a short portage at highway
55 and another short portage at Forssjöbruk.
47 Continue east to Eriksberg where there is another short portage and to the highway 216. Here you need to
portage down highway 216 to reach lake Yngaren.
60 Follow the north shore of Yngaren.
69 Leave Yngaren and enter a small lake and leave along a smal river to arrive in Hallbosjön. Follow the
north shore of this lake until you reach Vrena.
76 You must portage 900m through Vrena to reach lake Långhalsen. Follow the NE branch of this lake,
which turns SW and re-enters the Nyköpingsån to arrive at Kristineholm where there is a short portage.
95 From Kristineholm head down the Nyköpingsån to reach highway 53 on the outskirts of Nyköping.
101 The official route ends here but you could continue another 5 km down to the Baltic Sea with one power
station to portage.
