Canoe Guide - Arvika Grand Tour
Canoe Tours in Värmland: Arvika Grand Tour
I have only canoed sections of this route.
This route is a major commitment which explores most of the lake system in the Arvika area, following both
popular canoe routes and some obscure routes. The route is mainly on lakes but some small rivers are paddles
and there are many portages.
Start: Skjervangen in Norway. Lake Skjervangen is on highway 21 east of Oslo and close to the Sweden border.
Finish: Arvika Canoe Centre, on the Glafsfjorden about 3 km south of Arvika.
Portages: There are a lot of portages, some of them long, but most of them are on tracks or roads so are easy
with a canoe trolley. The portages are clearly shown on the canoe map for the area.
Difficulty: Difficult. The paddling is easy, unless there are big waves on the lakes but there are many portages.
Distance: 450 km
Maps: There are good canoe maps available for this route.
