I have not canoed this route.
This circular tour, suitable for those looking for solitude in the wilderness, goes through the natural reserve
of Glaskogen with its vast forests and transparent lakes. The route is totally on lakes.
Start and Finish: Arvika Canoe Centre, on the Glafsfjorden about 3 km south of Arvika.
Portages: 8 portages, 0.1 - 4.0 km
Difficulty: Medium. The paddling is easy but there are long portages.
Distance: 70 km
Maps: There are good canoe maps available for this route.
The route:
From the Canoe Centre head NW across to Algå on the western shore of Glaskogen and portage into Södra
Örsjön. canoe to the western tip of this lake and portage into Gränsjön. At the SE corner of this lake you have
your third portage into Övre Gla. At Lennungshammar at the south of this lake portage into Stora Gla. Paddle to
Dammarna at the eastern end of this lake and portage to Glaåkern. At the SE corner of Glaåkern do a short
portage into Kolsjön and portage from its southern tip to Stora Lesjön before portaging into Glaskogen. Paddle
up Glaskogen back to Arvika.
