Canoe Guide - Rinnen
Canoe Tours in Värmland: Rinnen
I have not canoed this route.
This tour is mostly lake paddling, but there are several small streams.
Start: Rinnen. North end of lake Rinnen at Takene.
Finish: Arvika Canoe Centre, on the Glafsfjorden about 3 km south of Arvika.
Portages: 4 portages, 0.1 - 4.5 km.
Difficulty: Easy, unless there are big waves on the lakes.
Distance: 75 km
Maps: There are good canoe maps available for this route.
The route:
From Takene head south down lake Rinnen. After about 5 km portage through Rinnfors into a small stream
and paddle down to Säveln. Paddle, with two short portages, down a small stream into Värmeln from the NW tip
of this lake and follow the northern shore of this large lake up to Brunskog and then on to Edane where there
is a canoe centre. From Edane paddle to the NW corner of Värmeln for the 4.5 km portage to Glafsfjorden.
Then paddle up the east shore of Glafsfjorden to the canoe centre at Arvika.
Route extension: This could be combined with other routes based on Arvika.
Route extensions: You could explore lakes Rinnen, Värmeln or Glafsfjorden.
