I have not canoed this route.
This route explores the many lakes and small streams south of Kinna in Västergötland.
Start: Alsjö: Lake Alsjö is on the minor road joining Torestorp to Alverered south of Kinna, which is
SW of Borås.
Finish: Horred
Distance: 100 km

Route extension: Take a day to explore lake Tolken
Route extension: Explore Vestra Öresjön.
Portages: 18 portages, 0.1 - 3.0 km. canoe trolley essential.
Difficulty: Difficult, because of the large number of portages. Try and be as lightweight as possible for
this route to ease the portages.
The route:
Launch into lake Alsjö and paddle across and portage 200m into Kinnasjö. Paddle across this lake for a
75m portage into Botasjö. At the south end of this lake there is 3 km portage into the south end of
Höljens. Paddle the length of this lake for the short portage into Högsjön. There is now a 3 km portage to
Änkasjön. At the north end of this lake there is a 900m portage to Järvasjön. Circuit this lake before a
1.5 km portage to Farssjön. At the NE end of this lake portage 1.4 km to Algsjön. At the north end
portage 1.2 km to Öxasjön. From the bathing place at the northern end, portage through Öxabäck to the
east end of Sävsjö. At the west end of this lake portage into Öjasjön. At the west tip of this lake paddle up
the Strömsän until the power station and portage into Sandsjö. There is a 150m portage at the west end of
the lake and paddle tiny lakes and a small stream before portaging 900m through Torestorp and then
down the stream to Tolken.
The nature of the route changes with much larger lakes to paddle through. Paddle to the north tip of
Tolken to Hyltenäs for the 1 km portage to Vestra Öresjön. Paddle into Östra Öresjön. Hanatorp canoe
centre is at the top of this lake. Paddle into Kalven and at the west end portage 1 km into the Slottsån.
There is then a 300m portage into the Viskån at Berghem. There are a few short rapids as you follow the
river down to Horred with two more short portages.
