Canoe Tours in Västergötland/Halland: Viskån
I have not canoed this route.
The Viskån flows from Borås to reach the sea (Kattegatt) north of Varberg.
There is a recognised canoe route on the section from Svaneholm to Horred. There are some easy rapids which
should be passable when the water-level is normal.
Start: Svaneholm. Svaneholm is about 15 km SW of Borås.
Finish: Horred
Distance: 50 km
Maps: There is a canoe map and description for the route
Route extension: I don’t know about the section of the Viskån SW from Horred but the aerial photographs
and maps suggest it should be navigable to the sea at Åskloster.
Route extension: You might like to paddle up the Husån into Stora Hålsjön which has beaches and
would be good for an overnight stop.
Portages: 6 portages, 0.1 - 2.5 km
Difficulty: Medium. There are some easy rapids on the route.
