Day 158: Saturday 28th September        Castle Creek – Manning Park

I managed to get lost on the last couple of miles of the trail. I think the trail must
have been re-routed since my guidebook was written. I eventually found my way to
Manning Park Lodge on the Highway between Hope and Princetown. I hade relatives
living a couple of hours away in the direction of Vancouver and they had kindly offered
to pick me up. While waiting for them I chatted with John, a Triathlon Iron Man racer
who had recently broken his arm. Despite his broken arm he had just spent 25 days on
a 2,300km bike tour of British Columbia to stay fit. “Billy Goat” and “Mercury” were at
the Lodge, having arrived late last night, and while I was waiting “Darryl”, “Goof”,
“Load”, “Phantasmo” and “Hazel” arrived as did “Capetown Jenny”, from South Africa,
“Mr. Green”, “Supertramp”, “Id” and a couple more thru-hikers. Obviously a lot of
hikers were aiming to finish this weekend.
