PCT 2006 - Pre-hike April 13th
                                   Thursday 13th April

I finished sorting out my drift bag, which I was to leave at Aqua Dulce and dealt
with my email again before heading off at 8am. I had a good breakfast at Denny’s in
Palmdale before heading off to drop more supply bags.
It was warm and sunny, at last, but another storm was forecast. I had good views of
Mount Baden-Powell and surrounding mountains which were still covered in snow.
I drove on to Deep Creek where I dropped another supply bag before doing my first
and final training walk for the trail. I hiked 6 miles up to the hot springs. I surprised a
completely naked man, with his dog, walking down the trail. The water level was much
higher than in 2002 so some of the pools were flooded. I had a soak with a San
Bernardino fireman before the sun set. I went a little way upstream to camp. (Camping
isn’t allowed at the hot springs, although this doesn’t seem to stop many people. I had
another soak under the moonlight before going to bed.
